1992 Aerostar windshield leaking

Hi
I have been working on my Aerostar to get it on the road. Over the last few weeks it has been warm out and the snow has been melting and it has also been raining. I notice the windshield leaking, top center and driping from the head liner inside. Went out side and took a look at the windshield there is a rust bubble just under the windshield weather stripping. Also noticed that the winshield has been replace and does not look like a good job has been done. What would be the best way to fix this problem? What would be a quick fix untill I can do it better? What would the costs be roughly?

thanks for any info :0)

Quickfix? Not very long term, but thick grease will stick around a few days (as long as it doesn't get too hot) and seal a leak like that.

If you see a rust bubble, and you've got water coming in, it's pretty likely that there is a hole in the metal. That's a fair amount of work to fix decently.

You can try prying up the edge of the seal to see what it looks like underneath if it's not dry rotted. That's usually where rust starts, and once it's migrated to where you can see it, it's much worse where you can't see. To have rust it means water has penetrated the paint, and if the bubble starts at the edge of the seal, it means it either started RIGHT there, or much more likely, under the seal.

All vehicles I've dealt with use the pinchweld as part of the windshield installation/sealing, if that rusts through at the edge, then you have a leak much further in that you won't see unless you completely remove the seal.
