Long day

Well I took today off and monday to get my son's 97 C1500 pickup done. Can you guess what engine it has, it is chevy? The original engine was a 4.3.
Heres your hint this engine was first produced I think 2002. And still made today.

If you guys guessed a trailblazer LL8 I6 4.2 vortec. You are correct. It's actually out of a rolled over 2003 trailblazer. The engine is mated to a 4L60E automatic transmission. About 90% of the wiring under the dash and hood is all trailblazer. Computer is trailblazer, So I didn't need to do any tuning. I test drove it for the first time and the shift points are exactly like a trailblazer. Which is ok, my kid doesn't need a racing machine yet. But he has plenty of power to tow a boat if he goes with his friends this summer.

Now that my son's truck is done. I can get back to fixing my little 553 bobcat. The left rear axle leaks, I don't know if it's from wear or I hit a curb and did something or what. It started leaking in the middle of february. And I hope, it's just a rear seal and not a axle housing that is cracked. Once I get it fixed, I'll have to be more careful moving snow. Maybe the dealer knew something about that rear axle and didn't tell me something.

My Bravada has that engine but I sure didn't recognize the sound. 275hp should be plenty for his pickup though.

It's the exhaust that makes it sound a little different, we had a local custom exhaust shop make the exhaust. Only came out to $219 so I didn't complain. I told the boy to fill the tank and, see roughly what his gas mileage is. I'm guessing about the same as a trailblazer or close to it. I think if my 1996 engine goes bad someday I might do that same swap also, thats if the boy has good luck with his.

Dang, Justen....it sounds like an angry Jaguar. No Ford or Dodge EVER sounded like that.
